Dawson's 10th Birthday Party

For Dawson's 10th birthday he requested a bowling party.  Ten just sounds like such a big kid to me...double digits! So it seemed very fitting that he had requested a big kid kind of party-bowling.

He invited the boys from his class at school and our neighbor who he always likes to play with.

He requested that I make his cake.  He wanted a white cake with white frosting...done!  Nora Kate helped me bake it and decorate it.

We bowled for an hour and then had pizza, Sprite, and cake.

I'm not sure how this picture and the next one got so out of order, but they are from the morning of his actual birthday before school (it was on a Tuesday).  He got to open his presents from us (a bigger fishing pole for catching the fish he wants to catch, a tennis racket, flippers for the pool, and a Columbia fishing hat, and his present from Aunt Emily and his present from Nana and Grandad.

Then John made his ever-popular waffles with powdered sugar and syrup for breakfast (special treat-sugar and sugar haha) and we put candles in and sang happy birthday.  That day for lunch NK, Clayton and, and I went to eat lunch with him at school.  We also took brownies to school as a treat for his class to enjoy.

Dawson had a great party!  He said it was exactly what he wanted-to have a bowling party with his friends.  So glad he enjoyed it.

An Interview with 10 Year Old Dawson

When Dawson turned three I started the tradition of doing a yearly "interview" with him.  It's fun to see how some answers change and others stay the same from year to year.  He's really growing up! Here are the same questions I ask every year and their responses from my big TEN year old!

1. What is your favorite color?  blue

2. What is your favorite toy? playing outside and playing on my tablet and playing nerf guns and basketball

3. What is your favorite fruit?  strawberries

4. What is your favorite tv show?  You Verses Wild

5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch?  Grilled Cheese

6. What is your favorite outfit or things to wear?  My aquarium shirt (it's a big deal  to Dawson to get a shirt when we go somewhere.  When we went to the Chattanooga Aquarium over Spring Break the kids got shirts and all four have worn them A LOT!)

7. What is your favorite game? War or Uno

8. What is your favorite snack? Goldfish

9. What is your favorite animal?  I don't know.  Do I have to pick a favorite animal? I don't really have a favorite animal. If you made me pick an animal it would take me a long time to think, but probably I would say...…(lots of hesitation here then finally I got the answer:) sea animals

10. What is your favorite song? all of the songs Alexa plays when we ask her to play "kids dance party music"

 11. What is your favorite book? Cabin Creek Mysteries

12. Who is your best friend?  Jesse, River, Isiah, Miguel, and Carson

13. What is your favorite cereal?  Cinnamon Toast Crunch

14. What is your favorite thing to do outside?  Fishing, going to Dollywood, going to the mountains, and playing on the playground, and playing soccer, playing tennis in our neighborhood court, riding my bike to the neighborhood playground, and riding my hoverboard

15. What is your favorite drink? Sprite

16. What is your favorite holiday?  Christmas and Easter

17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? Panda

18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? pancakes and waffles

19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday?  candy and sprite and chicken potpie and pizza

20. What do you want to be when you grow up? A farmer, you already know that!

at 6 years old: CANDY!!  And s’mores that you get from the fire not that you make inside…I like to burn them to make them taste better

at 5 years old:MEAT MUFFINS (this is what Carter and Dawson started calling the mini-meatloaves I've been making lately from turkey and oatmeal-I am so glad they like these because they're healthy-and easy!)

at 6 years old:  farmer I’ll have all kinds of things like tractors, dog, and stuff like all vegitables and apples.  And I hope my squirrels won’t eat my apples!  And a lot of cows, goats, chickens, and pigs!  And 2 cats and 3 dogs
