Our sweet, funny, confident, loving Mr. Baby is now five and a half! He was pretty excited to get to add that “and a half” to his age this time. He seems to have grown up so much over the last 6 months between turning 5 on March 21 and turning 5.5 on September 21st.
He has had a lot of big changes. First he finished preschool. He loved his sweet little preschool at First Baptist Athens and his buddies there. Every time we drive by he points out, “There was where I went to preschool.” They did an adorable end of year program for them and at one point they called the students names alphabetically by last name to get their diploma then exit the stay, Clayton was the last child on stage. He was completely unfazed by this and walked up last to get his diploma with all the confidence in the world. I always say that if everyone could have the confidence of Clayton that would be awesome!
This picture was after his Hawaiian themed graduation/end of year program.
In the Spring Clayton played baseball in Athens. He loved it.
This picture was the day he got the game ball!
Then school was out for summer break and we absorbed every minute we could. He fully cut out his nap over summer break, but he is my only child who will sleep past 7:30 if he’s had a late night. It’s amazing.
This fall Clayton played soccer for the first time.
At first he didn’t want to play soccer but having seen his dribbling skills in the yard we encouraged him to play. Now he says it’s his favorite because “it’s the easiest because the ball doesn’t have to go up like baseball or basketball it’s just on the ground.” He did great at soccer this season. He really lucked out to be with one of his best buddies from school on his team too. It was a REALLY fun season.
Clayton is such a fun kid! I think he has fun at just about everything he does! I enjoy that so much with him. Here are just some random pictures of Clayton being his happy, fun self…
Another change for Clayton over the last 6 months was what we decided he was old enough to enjoy summer camp. He was thrilled to do the baseball camp at Athens High. At drop off the first day I was relieved when he was confidently and happily seeing friends he knew from baseball and even his older siblings’ friends and saying hi. He had the very best time and even won the camp award for BEST CAMPER.
Probably the biggest change for Clayton between 5 and 5 and a half has been starting kindergarten. Since we hybrid school the adjustment hasn’t been a huge one. But he loves school! Loves it! He enjoys his time at the building with his teacher Mrs. Burttram. He loves being big and walking up the steps and inside with Carter and Nora Kate. He also loves doing his schoolwork at him. He’s learning quickly and seems to catch on to new concepts quickly.
We will call this section of his 5 and a half year old update “These are a few of my favorite things…”
the beach!
Fishing
trash pandas baseball games and catching a foul ball there!
All things star wars
Riding his dirt bike
Playing outside
Sweets
Duke
And more baseball
This sweet boy knows how to melt my heart. He is so sweet and snuggly, but he also has this great sense of humor. He sees and understands so many things and a lot of times he puts the funniest spin on things to make us laugh.
We cannot believe our sweet Mr. Baby is already 5.5 years old! Time passes much to quickly, but with Clayton it’s easy to enjoy it.
