The Zorio Family: March 2021

March was a busy month with sports starting back up. Basketball ended in early Feb. so most of February ended up being a nice break getting back in the regular routine of dinners at the same time each night, schoolwork during the day, etc. But now we are in March. Clayton wanted to “be a base baller” again this spring so we signed him up. We usually opt not to do Spring soccer just so we can focus on baseball and so we can enjoy some spring evenings at home-but Nora Kate and Carter both begged to do spring soccer...so knowing it might be crazy busy we agreed.

The month of March started off with Spirit Days...

On Tuesday when the big 3 went to the building they had crazy hair and/or crazy sock day. Even Dawson wanted to participate with some color in his hair.

Carter and NK were the only ones who wanted to participate in the Crazy Sock part of the day.

We had soccer evaluations. There’s Nora Kate dribbling!

Then Thursday was TWIN DAY! Nora Kate twinned with her friend Tiffany!

Coincidentally it was also Spirit Week (actually called Profit Sharing Week) at John’s work the same week. I think I only managed to get a picture of John on Disney day. His department all dressed as Toy Story Characters. Clayton really loved Daddy dressed as Buzz Lightyear.

Then Carter had his soccer evaluations.

One Sunday morning on the way to church I look back to see this cool kid in the backseat.

I had handed out their masks for church and said they didn’t have to put them on until we got to church, but Clayton was ready...mask, sunglasses, stuffed animal squirrel! Hah

This month the kids taught him “wait”

They lay a treat on the floor in front of him and tell him wait. They can even leave the room, and he won’t eat it until they finally tell him “get it!”

Clayton still requests a selfie and kiss in the car before I drop him off for preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Love this sweet boy.

Clayton got a sandbox from us for his birthday and it has been a hit!

I finally convinced everyone to drive down to Bankhead National Forrest and hike to Sougahoagdee Falls. Interesting getting to the trailhead...15 minutes driving on a dirt/gravel road. The kids were questioning where we were going. BUT it was SO worth it! This was Clayton (and Duke’s) longest hike ever at 4.5 miles. We saw several waterfalls (and one snake). It was so pretty and fun.

The picture above is the final falls at the end of the hike. It is Sougahoagdee Falls.

When you finally came upon the falls it was so beautiful. The pool at the bottom was so green and peaceful. Pictures do not do it justice.

I had taken a screen shot of just where we were on the map. The map made it look like an actual road, but it definitely was not a normal paved road to get to this trailhead.

Clayton celebrated his birthday this month and got lots of cool gifts so he had to write his thank you notes.

I wanted to remember how sweet his little name signature was on each thank you note.

Another bday gift was this giant inflatable soccer ball for the trampoline. Also a huge hit!

Spring Break was this month too.

We did some school work on Spring Break just so we could be prepared to take a full week off later on to go to the beach and maybe we can start our summer break early!? (Fingers crossed on that one, as our workload for school has been VERY heavy this year). But we did manage to do some fun, special things on Spring Break. Here we are enjoying popsicles on the patio.

We went to our friends house for a taco dinner (my kids called it a taco party! Hah, when you haven’t gotten together with many people at their houses over the past year-thanks, Covid-any get together can be a party). The kids had a blast together.

Our neighborhood usually has a big, fun egg hunt at the clubhouse, but thanks to COVID they didn’t this year. BUT they did a neighborhood scavenger hunt. So we spent one day driving around the neighborhood in the ranger finding Easter items hidden on various house. The kids turned in their findings and their name was entered into a drawing. Well, they won! They got this gift basket with egg dye, candy, a Chick-fil-A gift card, etc. They were SO happy!

Spring Break also meant doing anything at all outside that we could.

I snapped this picture of these two playing a building game on Carter’s tablet. Their legs look almost exactly the same length and I just love how close they are sitting. These two sure have a special relationship.
