After Clayton’s birthday party was totally planned and got canceled last year (thanks a lot, Covid) I was determined to give him a super awesome party to remember this year. Plus, turning 5 is a big deal! He was so very excited for his party and had a major countdown going for a long time leading up to party day.
His request for a theme was Darth Vader/Star Wars. I think it’s funny that he’s so into Star Wars because none of the other kids have ever been this into it, but he absolutely loves all things Star Wars. Really the thing that got him into Star Wars were the Star Wars legos so it was only appropriate that he got some Star Wars Lego sets for his birthday!
Back to the party though, we decided to have it in our backyard and hope for good weather (we lucked out-it was a warm and beautiful day!), and we rented a GIANT slide inflatable which was a HUGE hit! We also assembled his birthday present (sand box) in the backyard the week before his birthday so it could be enjoyed at the party too. So the kids had a blast on the Giant Inflatable Slide, the trampoline, the sandbox, and just running around with their inflatable light sabers which were another HUGE hit!
I had so much fun planning this party. Party planning is something I really enjoy especially for the kids (you only turn 5 once after all), and I have missed getting to do it over the past year. I was a little nervous of how many people would still be too Covid-concerned to come, but we ended up with a fantastic turnout! I didn’t get a group picture sadly, everyone was having too much fun for me to stop them to take a picture. So for the sake of recording memories the following guests attended his 5th celebration: John Thomas, Owen, Jackson, Andy, Cooper, Dawson, Carter, Nora Kate, Ruby, Henry, Annie, and ___.

It was constantly movement with all these 5 year olds running around. You can see Clayton in the front of this picture (he switched into his Darth Vader costume at this point in the party.) It was a bday gift from Lolly and he was excited to show it off. He told his buddies to call him Darth Vader and they could be Storm Troopers. haha!

To prevent Clayton from blowing on everyone’s slice of cake (Covid in mind), I made him a cupcake to put his candle in. So he blew out the candle on his cupcake.

We had thermal detonators (cheese balls), Green light sabers (grapes on a skewer), Blue light sabers (pretzels dipped in tinted white chocolate), Vader Veggies (celery and carrots), Jabba The Pizza Hutt (pizza), Princess Lays (various kinds of Lays chips), Yoda Soda (sprite in a can-requested by Clayton), Jedi Juice (Caprisuns), and Luke Sky Water (bottled water).
He had a pancake stack made by Daddy for breakfast with 5 candles in it!

He had fun helping me stuff these with a glow stick light saber and candy. Everyone also got to take home their inflatable light saber. The tags say “Thanks for coming and being a trooper!” And had a little picture of a storm trooper on it.

Clayton requested a Darth Vader cake. I had to come up with a way to do it that would not require a lot (or any, if possible black frosting because yuck!). He was thrilled with this cake that I made.

Clayton took a minute off from playing with his friends to come get a yoda soda (sprite from a can per his exact request), I asked him if he was having fun. I got this thumbs up while holding a light saber and drinking sprite. I think he’s enjoying his party here.
Clayton ALWAYS knows what he wants.
When we asked what he wanted at his party he requested sprite (which he never gets unless we are at a restaurant), so he knew it was a big deal...which also meant that he made sure to wear out the sprite on the day of his party! Haha!
