Carter at Nine

Our smart, funny, outgoing, athletic, competitive, sweet Carter is NINE! I cannot believe how quickly time has passed.  Carter has such a sweet, caring heart.  Carter seems to have really grown up a lot this past year. Carter loves big, and there are so many things he loves. BUT I think most of all he loves to laugh! Carter always has a joke of silly thing to say. He’s a good entertainer.

Carter also loves sports. This year Carter played soccer in the fall and spring. At the end of the Fall season, he was chosen to play All Start Soccer too so he got in a whole extra month of soccer in November. He was over the moon excited to get on the All Star team and go to Dothan to play other kids his age across the state. All Star Soccer ran right into basketball season, so for a few weeks he was playing both. For basketball Carter played on the Lakers and loved it.  He has endless energy which serves him well in soccer and basketball. At the end of the bball season, we found out he was also chosen for the All Star basketball team.  Carter loves to run with me too.  He also likes anything related to strength. He does pushups, crunches/sit-ups, planks, and lifts weights daily in his room each morning.  He does all this on his own because he wants to. I’ve always said that he’s one solid muscle.

Carter is extremely smart too. He’s loves a challenge when it comes to his schoolwork.  His favorite subjects are math and science. I’ve always told him he has a math brain, it seems all things math just make sense to him. Then for his science work he loves the challenges and hands on portion of every lesson. Some of his favorite ones from this year were his bridge building (his held 196 pennies!) and building a working lock. When it comes to school Carter values efficiency. When he doesn’t see the value in an assignment, he doesn’t hesitate to let me know it’s a waste of his time. Hah!  The very last thing we ended the year with in Language Arts was poetry and he said “it just takes too many words.” Although he’s a good reader and enjoys reading.

Carter has enjoyed playing golf a lot this year too.  He is also good about getting out his clubs and hitting practice balls in the yard. Outside at home he spends LOTS of time jumping on the trampoline as well.

Other favorites include shooting basketball, fishing, teaching Duke new tricks, swimming, playing any kind of game he can compete in (board games, sports games, etc), laughing and silliness, and just about anything with his brothers and sister.

Carter always says he doesn’t know what he wants to be when he grow up, but no matter what I know he will do great things!  We love our Carter so much!! Happy 9th  birthday to my big brown eyed boy!
