Clayton's First Birthday Party

Clayton's First Birthday Party was held in our backyard on Saturday, March 25th.  The weather that day was one of the most beautiful days we have had so far this Spring...it was perfect for being outside celebrating!
Clayton's very favorite book is Little Blue Truck.  No matter what Clayton is doing he will drop it and crawl over to your lap if you pick up this book.  He really loves it and even has a favorite page! So we decided to theme his first birthday party after this sweet little book.

Is it possible that a whole year has passed since this little guy was born!?

Invitations

Look at those sweet dimpled hands.

Birthday shirt I made.

Chalk, bubbles, and balls for entertainment.  We also had a small inflatable in the backyard.

Instead of gifts, Clayton just collected food pantry items to donate to our church's food pantry.

The book the party was themed after

Clayton and his friend Violet.

Nora Kate and Ava on the swings

A lot of the big kids had fun playing basketball.

To go with the character of the book-"duck feed"

"Chicken Feed"

Pigs in a Blanket

Toad-ally Awesome Fruit

"Goat" Cheese and Crackers

Horse Hay

I made his cake in the shape of a 1 with the character on it and his smash cake.

jwI love how we are about to sing to him here, and he's looking like "WHAT?! You've fed me homemade baby food and nursed me for a year and now you're giving me CAKE?! That's crazy!" Haha!

Eating so much cake can really wear a baby out!
Needless to say, he took a brief bath mid-party after his little nap on the cake.

Aw, Little Blue Truck was one of our kids' favorites too! They also liked the sequel...can't remember exactly what it's called...something about the Little Blue Truck in the city? He helps stop a traffic jam by reminding everyone to take their turn. That's a great party theme, and it looks like it was lots of fun! I can't believe Clayton is already 1...where is the time going?
