February 2020

We had a busy and fun February.
The first weekend of the month, Nana and Grandad came down to visit.  We had beautiful weather while they were here (which turned out to be just about some of the only non-rainy days we had this month), so thankfully we took full advantage of being outside.  The kids and begged and begged, so they brought Oreo the dog witht them to visit.  Nora Kate was at Oreo's side the entire time.

They actually all loved playing with Oreo.

We wrapped up basketball season at the beginning of this month. Here is Carter with his team..the Bucks!

We used one of our "Fun Fridays" to go to the Cook Museum. The boys made all of the shapes here
The favorite exhibit at the Cook Museum is the "volcano table."

We went to Insanity Arcade one evening for pizza and games.

The next morning since it was the first Saturday without basketball, the big three kids started SKATE SCHOOL!
That evening Lolly got to our house.  She sold her house to downsize, and while she is waiting to purchase her new home she is living with us.  Somehow in all the the kids' excitment I didn't get a picture.

Monday was homeschool day at High Point Climbing.  The kids are always excited for this, and they were excited to show Lolly their climbing skills.

We hadn't seen Lolly since before Christmas and she had had some gifts from the Wade's gathering on Christmas Eve for our kids. They were excited to have Christmas in February!

We made Valentines Day Cookies

On another Fun Friday we went bowling!

and we added another hermit crab to our family...we are now a 3 hermit crab family-hah!  This one is named Spiderman.

We took Clayton shopping for all of his baseball gear since he will be playing baseball this Spring and Daddy will be an assistant coach.

We took Lolly to hike Rails to Trails one Sunday in February.

After the big 3 did one day of skate school we realized it was totally something Clayton could learn to do also! He was excited to join in the next Saturday for Skate School.  John and I even laced up some skates for the first time in probably over a decade to skate with the kids.

The next weekend we loaded up the kids for a surprise trip to Nashville.

The Science Adventure Center in Nashville is SO neat!

Ever since we went to Opry Mills in January Clayton (our fish and ocean lover) had been begging to go back to the mall and actually get to eat at the Aquarium Restaurant...so we did! He was thrilled to see LOTS of sting rays..his favorite!

Oops a little out of order, but this was also the Science Adventure Center.

We walked around Nashville and showed the kids the Parthenon.
And the kids did some late night swimming in the hotel pool which they loved getting to swim in February!

Dawson and Carter got to go to their good friend Henry's birthday party at TOP GOLF at the end of February and then spend the night!
The next morning I had to pick them up bring and early because Dawson went on a mission trip to Upper Sand Mountain (no pictures). They had a great time at the sleepover and Dawson on his mission trip!

Clayton at his favorite-the Dinosaur Playground.

Nora Kate and her sweet friend at school on Twin Day!

Dawson is becoming quiet the artist...he drew this hermit crab!

Well, that does it for February!

Nora Kate is 6 AND A HALF

Our sweet sunshine is six AND A HALF now (as of Valentine's Day).  Nora Kate is caring and kind. She loves to be sweet and snuggle, but she can also totally hold her own wrestling with her brothers. She loves all things pink, glittery, and girly. She loves having her nails polished. Making decisions on how she wants her hair done each day are important at 6.5 (the styles are "regular," one pony tail, two pony tails, two french braids, or one braid).  I can very rarely talk her into a bun anymore because she says it's too heavy on her head.  We love her hair and she and I have a lot of fun doing her beauitful curls. Nora Kate loves art and little projects (usually consists of making something out of cardboard and lots of little pieces of scrap paper). She loves Wellie Wishers. We thought we had read ALL of the Wellie Wisher books there are, but we were excited to find two more that we didn't know about this month! Now we have read all of them.
I cannot remember if I recorded this on the blog or not, but after Fall Break Nora Kate moved up to first grade.  She was technically old enough to be a first grader anyway, and with all the homeschool pre-K we did last year, she has done well since moving up to 1st.  She LOVES our school set up where she goes to the building two morning a week.  She has some sweet friends at school that she talks about all the time.  NK makes us laugh because I think she knows every persons name at school.  The boys will be talking about someone in 5th grade and say that they can't remember their name, and out of nowhere Nora Kate knows it.  She was thrilled because during the big boys' basketball season, we saw lots of her school friends at the games and practices.  She is also great about making friends just about anywhere and she made friends with siblings of the players on the teams too. She was not bored at all during their season.
Nora Kate still loves to bake. She's a good little soccer player. We didn't do gymnastics after soccer was over this year, which I think we are starting to regret-so we will probably add gymnastics or ballet back in next year if she wants. She also ran her first kids marathon since her 6th birthday.  She has done great with having had her earrings for 6 months now. Loves them and has never once complained.
She loves the beach and even though we have been twice since her 6th birthday, so loves to frequently discuss and "plan" our next trip to the beach...that's my girl!  She's an expert bike rider and hover boarder! NK has amazed me these last 6 months with her rock climbing skills too.  We go to High Point Climbing every couple of months, and she is a great climber! Nora Kate is a sweet big sister to Clayton and little sister to "the boys" as she refers to them. She wants to share a room with somebody like "the boys" do because she's "lonely" all by herself, but deep down I can tell she enjoys having her own space to go to when she wants to do her own thing.  Nora Kate is a sweet, fancy, fun, loving, helpful, caring, feisty six AND A HALF YEAR OLD now! We love her so! Here are a few pictures from the past 6 months since she turned 6.

This girl loves the beach!

Walking around the neighborhood lake.

All fancy with Mommy for Christmas.

She loves to stay in a hotel..this was in Nashville.

At another favorite place-the Cook Museum!

Crafty...making potholders and coasters.

Happy 6.5, sweet girl!
