Nora Kate is 21 months! She is such a busy little girl, just like her brothers! On the morning of the day she hit the 21 month mark she climbed out of her crib! Right out of it! I was so surprised because she hadn't seemed that interested in trying to escape. As soon as she did it, I put her back in her bed. I wanted to see if it was a fluke or if she actually knew what she was doing. Nope, she knew exactly what she was doing. She went back to the exact same corner, bent one knee, lifted the opposite leg until her foot was over the side and then pushed with her arms until she was balancing half in the crib half out. She was climbing out again! This meant she had to go to a toddler bed. The boys did not transition easily to the new found freedom of a toddler bed. While the boys only fell out a time or two, they both had a REALLY hard time staying in the bed when they were awake or supposed to be falling asleep. As John was converting the crib to the toddler bed (FOR THE THIRD TIME!) that evening, I was mentally preparing myself for it to take Nora Kate hours to fall asleep because she would't stay in bed (since this is what the boys had done). I was also reminding myself that we survived this just last summer with Carter when he started climbing out of his toddler bed, and that we could survive it again.
Well, guess what!? We were SO surprised at how amazing Nora Kate did. That night we put her in her new bed, and she was so happy with it! She would climb in and just sit and smile and look at it. She kept saying, "Daddy fix it my bed!" Then, the best part, we closed her door, she laid down in her bed and went right to sleep?!?! We thought maybe she was afraid to get out and that she would be out of her bed as soon as she woke up the next morning. When 7:30 rolled around, she yelled for me, I opened her door, and she was sitting in her bed smiling. She hadn't gotten out or fallen out all night!?
Over the next week we were convinced that she would become less obedient about staying in bed and start to explore her room, but no! She has been by FAR the easiest child to transition to a toddler bed! THANK YOU, Nora Kate!!
The bed change has been the biggest change in the 21st month for our sweet girl. But in addition to this her vocabulary continues to expand! She's putting more and more words together to form sentences. She talks ALL THE TIME just like her brothers, so she is getting no shortage of vocabulary practice haha!
Nora Kate is getting better and better at entertaining herself for short little periods of time which is awesome when I'm cooking dinner especially.
Nora Kate's favorite book right now is Gossie. She loves when we read to her. She also enjoys playing outside with her brothers, or really anything with her brothers at all. I'm convinced they are her most favorite people -more so than even John or me! Haha! Although she is becoming increasingly more attached to John...a Daddy's girl in the making.
Well, I'll wrap up our sweet girl's 21 month update, but not without a couple pictures! We love you so much precious baby doll!
Here's her converted bed after she had climbed in and out a few times to try it out and ruffle the covers!
SO HAPPY
21 months today and all cozy in a big girl bed!
Look at that smile!
