Clayton is SIX

Clayton has such a big personality that I feel like I could say so much about who he is.  Clayton is confident. He always immediately knows what he wants and is confident to ask for it. He is caring-he loves his friends and family so much. Today I said, “What’s your very favorite thing in the whole world?” I thought he might say a wide range of things from the beach to Pokémon to playing outside who knows, but with no hesitation he said, “our family.” Melt my heart!  He absolutely loves his siblings. He looks up to them so much and wants to be with one of them. He is happy to watch their sports/activities and cheer them on (just like they do for him). Clayton is also a good friend. He is outgoing so he makes friends easily and, honestly, I think he’s probably a pretty fun friend to have as he is always doing something silly or talking them up.
Clayton is also a good student.  This year was kindergarten and he has done SO GREAT! He completely understands that he has to do his work, learn his lessons, and wants to do that. He has been a joy to teach at home. I love watching how he learns every day!  It’s amazing how quickly he learns.
This year Clayton played baseball, soccer, basketball, and now we are in baseball season again. He says soccer is the easiest “because the ball is on the ground.” But that either soccer or baseball are his favorites and that he still likes basketball too.  He has also been working on golf-informally with Daddy and his older brothers.
When he’s not playing a sport he loves jumping on the trampoline, playing with Duke, riding his dirt bike (he got a faster one for Christmas) and is a great driver, shooting basketball in the driveway, playing kickball in the backyard, or catching creatures (mostly frogs) outside.
Clayton loves traveling. He always asks if we can go somewhere to stay in a hotel. He says when he’s older he wants to learn to play the drums.
Clayton has some of the best quotes ever. Here are 2 recent favorites—
“Goof it up, giggles.” (Said when we were all trying not to laugh at something else inaccurate he had said-the phrase he was trying to say here was “laugh it up chuckles.”
“The Chewbacca is too hot in my noodles.” (Translation the Bok Choy)

Clayton got some new golf clubs for his birthday and he is SO excited!
He writes right handed but he bats and golfs left handed.

Clayton attended a Huntsville Havoc Hockey Game back in the winter! He loves going-there is a lot of music and entertainment in addition to the match that keeps him interested!

We fostered two puppies in March and while it was crazy having two little puppies here, Clayton absolutely loved it. He constantly wanted to snuggle them. The pups got so much love for our boy.

Clayton ran his first kids marathon this winter! He ran the Rocket City Kids Marathon!
I won’t say he loved every mile.  Maybe half of them-hah! BUT he was pretty pumped on race day and very excited for the final mile, crossing the finish line, and, of course, getting his medal!!
I’m proud of him though for doing all 26.2 miles and sticking with it!!

Birthday boy!

Clayton ran the New Year’s Day race with our family this year! It was super windy and actually during a tornado warning (see the wind in the pics), but he did GREAT!

Birthday breakfast-cinnamon rolls!

He is ALWAYS finding something funny to do…. “Hey Mommy, do my eyes look big?”

Clayton loves a good party-for any reason.
Here he was on New Years Even staying up until midnight to ring in 2022!!
Also, this picture reminds me that I want to mention that Clayton also is pretty competitive.  Not as competitive in nature as Carter (at least not right now), but he will compete with Carter haha!
So when we do these Minute to Win It games like he’s doing in the picture here, he is alllll about winning.  It makes it fun!  (As a side note, he’s a kind loser too.)

We had a couple of snows this winter, and Clayton had fun playing in the snow!
He doesn’t get pink cheeks in the summer when he’s hot (that’s usually NK), but he did get pink cheeks out in the cold snow.

one of his first practice of the spring season

Birthday gifts…in elf pajamas…this boy knows what he wants, and he wanted to sleep in elf pjs the night before his bday.

some TOP GOLF time with Daddy

He is almost to tall to lay on the stairs like he has always done.
For some reason he calls this “laying like a hotdog”

This boy was such a good basketball player.  He was pretty scrappy on defense and definitely all about the game!

We spend so much time in the car waiting on siblings to finish practices, lessons, etc…Clayton always finds entertainment.

sweet boy looking big as he goes through his Pokemon cards

This was on PBL Showcase Day at school.  The kids showcased all the projects they had been working on.  Clayton was so big and proud to show me everything!

Lost a tooth!

These are a few of his favorite things…staying a a hotel…in the winter…with an indoor pool!

And he loves the beach

celebrating our Clayton’s 6th birthday!!

Clayton loves aquariums.  Lolly took us to the Georigia Aquarium in Atlanta in February.  He LOVED IT! He was especially excited to find the African Penguin on the wall (and in an exhibit) because we were currently doing a project for school on African Penguins.

new Indian Dirt Bike for Christmas

Ash Wednesday…he requested I take a picture with his ashes on his forehead.

These pictures are all out of order, but at least they’re in one place…another one from his birthday.

He likes to do spiky hair or Mohawks after showers

This was at one of his favorite hotels…we stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort in Panama City the week of Thanksgiving, and it had a lazy river, several pools, and a splash pad.  He loved it!
I can’t believe this wonderful boy is ours and that he’s six! We love him so much and he makes our lives so fun!  Happy 6th Birthday!!

Clayton’s 6th Birthday Party

When we started talking to Clayton about what he wanted to do for his birthday party this year he knew he wanted a Pokémon party and he really wanted a swimming party.  March is not really a month here that you want to have an outdoor pool party here. It’s just not reliably warm enough. We rented a local pool that had a BIG indoor pool.  It was so fun and perfect for our sweet Clayton!  I almost think it was even more of a treat to get to swim for Clayton’s birthday since it wasn’t summer and “swimming season.”

He said his party was “so great!” And I am so glad. I love throwing parties for the kids and watching them enjoy the fun special time with their friends. So sweet.

Lots of pictures of the kids in the pool….

They swam and swam and swam for two full hours then we headed to the party room.  We had decorated with red, yellow, and white—Pokémon themed.
Here is Clayton with some of his buddies-Jude, Heath, and Cooper.

Our big 6 year old

I made pikachu pops (transformed some Easter peeps).

Clayton is one lucky boy to have so many great friends to celebrate him!
He had neighborhood friends, school friends, small group friends.
Clayton loves having friends.

His invitation

Customary chalk board

He requested a double layer chocolate cake with white frosting.  I love how Clayton always knows what he wants and is confident to ask for it.

NK was happy to have friends there too!

Poke Ball cake!

His generous friend gave him so many great gifts!

Birthday shirt

I love how sweet kids are-they were all so so excited to watch him open their gifts.  Kids may be the best gift givers and receivers!

Party boy! Here he was still in his swim attire

We will call this the older sibling table or big kids table.
