Clayton is 2 Weeks Old!

Clayton's second week flew by just as quickly as his first week.

On Monday, March 28 John went back to work AND Clayton had a weight check with Dr. Collins.  As all babies do, he had lost a few ounces at his first check up the previous week, and thankfully he was back up to almost his birth weight by this second check up.  His weight at this visit was 8 pounds 2 ounces.  Dr. Collins said this was great, and that he was gaining over an ounce a day.  Clayton checked out great, so we don't have to go back until his one month check up.  Taking Clayton to the doctor on this day was my first time taking Clayton out by myself.  Carter and Nora Kate were with me too (of course, Dawson was at school).  For some reason they were running behind at the doctor so we ended up being there over an hour, but everyone did well considering.  We survived the first day of John being back at work and an outing to the doctor...but after this we did not leave the house again until Saturday when John was home to go with us to Kroger (which Clayton was a good boy and slept the entire time we were in Kroger).  Thankfully the weather was nice enough most of the week that we could play in the backyard to keep the kids entertained where they didn't complain too much about staying home all week!

By spending so much time at home though it has given the kids a lot of special time with Clayton.  They all still LOVE to hold him.  Nora Kate seems to be the most in love with him-she asks to hold him more than anyone and is constantly kissing, patting, and hugging on him.  If someone else is holding Clayton, Nora Kate is usually sitting right beside them watching.  Carter loves to hold Clayton and sing him (silly) songs.  Dawson always wants to hold Clayton especially when he gets home from school.  If Clayton is asleep when he gets home he always asks about him.

Clayton continues to be an AWESOME baby!!!  He has long (for a newborn) awake stretches during the day which are great for cuddling him, giving him some tummy time, and talking to him.  Then he also takes good naps during the day-so far, every day since he was born, he has napped at the exact time every afternoon that Carter and Nora Kate nap which is so great for me to be able to get a few chores done (or rest!).  I'm hoping he keeps this up, but even if he doesn't it's been nice for these 2 weeks!
He is still doing great at night too!!  His first week he was going one three hour stretch at night then the others were 2 hour stretches of time, but about half way through his second week he started going one (almost) four hour stretch!  Although he doesn't do this every night, when he does it's SO, SO NICE!  Even when he doesn't go the four hour stretch, he usually does a 3 hour stretch and then two or two and a half hour stretches after that.  The best thing is that when he wakes up to eat, I change his diaper, feed him, and then I lay him down, and he goes right back to sleep!!  It's so nice that he hasn't had his days and nights confused.  When he eats it takes him about 30 minutes to eat, but he seems content and full after he is done eating.  He's a great eater in the daytime and at night.  During the day he likes to eat every 2 to 2 and a half hours.  He's such a happy baby that even when he gets hungry he doesn't fuss or cry too much.

Clayton has had some time outside.  We went on a short walk with him in the stroller one afternoon, and then we have gone on a couple of other short walks where I have worn him in the Ergo baby carrier.  He goes to sleep almost immediately every time I put him in the Ergo.

Clayton continued to be popular having several visitors!  During his second week he was visited by Patty, Alana, Colt, Sarah, Aunt Emily, Cousin Hailey, and his great aunt Arlene.  We also had Clayton's newborn pictures taken this week.  He and all the kids did so good during the pictures-John and I were relieved!  I'm excited to get his birth announcements sent out to our friends and family.
We are continuing to love every sweet little moment with our precious Clayton!  John and I keep saying we wish we could keep him this little!  I'm loving having a newborn in the house again...especially a newborn this happy and content!
We love our precious Clayton, and our only complaint is that these first days are passing too, too quickly!

Here are some pictures from Clayton's second week!

We happened to be at the doctor in the exam room waiting to be seen when Carter turned exactly 1 week old (9:31am).  He was undressed for his exam, but I had to snap a picture at his 1 week birthday!

There is no shortage of willing arms to hold sweet Clayton...

Dawson always wants to hold Clayton when he gets home from school!

Hoodie Baby!

Sweet boy after bath!

Dawson was really proud of himself for taking this picture of Clayton!

Love these sweet feet...all eight of them!

Clayton loves his swing!  Here he is nestled in it looking around like a big boy!

I'm only adding this picture to the post to remember what a sneezy baby Clayton is!  Even the first day he was born when we were in the hospital, he has sneezed more than anyone!  Here he is mid-sneeze!

The oldest and the youngest brothers having tummy time! :)

We put Clayton in Nora Kate's doll bed for some pictures! Nora Kate thought this was SO NEAT!

He must like snoozing in the doll bed-look at that smile!

Our sweet 2 week old!
