October 2016

While our Fall Break Beach Trip to Port St. Joe was by far the most exciting thing we did in October, we did enjoy some fun activities the rest of the month as well.
Carter has been practicing a lot of patterns at school.  We have these dinosaurs that we use for counting, but he has loved making different simple and difficult patterns with them this month!

A couple of fun trips to the park!

Dawson had a lower tooth that had been REALLY REALLY loose, well he does not like to wiggle his teeth at all so his permanent tooth started coming through the gums and since he wasn't wiggling the baby tooth it got wedged in and tightened back up and was STUCK almost sideways!  I was concerned that in all the boys' rowdy play Dawson's lip would bump it and get cut.  We made a trip to the dentist, and he was so brave letting the dentist get it out of there.  He didn't really have to have it pulled, the dentist knew just how to move it to get it out because that thing was wedged in TIGHT! Anyway, the tooth fairy usually only brings him 1 gold dollar, but he got two gold dollars (in his hands in the picture above)-I guess the tooth fairy knew how brave he had been!

Mom brought over some of my old dance costumes from when I was little, and Nora Kate has had a ball wearing them around.  She poses, tells me to look at how fancy she is, etc.  I LOVE IT!

The above costume was one from a tap routine called Tiger Lil.

And this was a ballet costume!

October was the annual muffins with Mom breakfast at Dawson's school one morning.  So we got to school at 7am and enjoyed those muffins!

Some of my favorite days are always just play at home days.  We got interested in building the train tracks again this month!

And this fancy girl ALWAYS loves to dress up.

One day as soon as we pulled in from picking Carter up from preschool he ran into the house grabbed a paper and pen and wrote the above paper!  I asked him what was so urgent, and he said he had to hurry and write how to spell "green" because they learned green that morning at school and it had so many letters he was afraid he would forget it! LOVE HIM!

All the kids had fun wearing their Halloween outfits all month!
I love this outfit.  Lolly and Pop gave it to Dawson when he was a baby, and all the kids have gotten to wear it.  It has cute little matching booties, but Clayton pulls them off immediately and chews on them!  Good thing it's been a warm month because he only wants to be barefoot!

Dawson got to go to a birthday party for a school friend this month and had a lot of fun!

We were SO SO SO excited that our church did its' first Trunk or Treat this year.  John and I decorated the Jeep with a beach theme...complete with sand, palm tree, floats, grass skirts, shells, etc.  We had a fun time putting this together.

Ready for Trunk or Treat at church!

The Trunk or Treat was GREAT! There were lots of trunks decorated awesomely, this train to ride (the kids are on it in the picture above), inflatable, games, hay ride...SO SO MUCH FUN...and candy!

Quick stop at the photo area at the trunk or treat.

Clayton's first Halloween!
He wore the giraffe costume that his brothers and sister ALL wore for their first Halloween.  I LOVED IT!

He was a cute and happy little giraffe!

Dawson and Carter went to Colt's birthday party..a nerf gun party! Look at those tough friends!

Another Halloween outfit!

Toward the end of the month Clayton really started wanting to crawl.  He thinks he can do it, then just lays flay on his tummy.  I'm in no hurry for him to crawl, but he keeps trying.

October was more soccer for our little "soccer rocker!"  Carter has seriously amazed us with his soccer skills!

Dawson loves art more than anyone else.  He's always drawing or turning things into creations.  Here he made a lamp out of various materials.  Trash to treasure! Haha

more Halloween outfits

Lunch at Dawson's school is fun for us all!

We got to spend LOTS of time outside this month because it was still such warm weather!

For the three hours that Carter is at school two days a week, I always ask Nora Kate what she would like to do...she almost ALWAYS says SHOPPING! She loves to go to Target and just look.  And she's sooo cute doing it.  She will say things like: Look at this shirt.  It's so fancy.  Is this my size? This would look good with my leggings." I LOVE IT!

We went to the fun event for Halloween in Downtown.  It was great! LOTS of candy and games.  This booth was run by Moe's Grill.  The sign said "Pick Moe's nose for a treat" Dawson stuck his hand in and got candy, Nora Kate stuck her hand in and got candy, Carter stuck his hand in and they tricked him and put slime in it like it was from Moe's nose-Carter (who usually would have laughed and laughed) looked disgusted-I guess it was a little too realistic! HAH! Then they gave him candy for being a good sport!

We ran into Dawson's friend Bailey trick or treating downtown too! I LOVE these sweet friends.

John met us downtown after we finished trick or treating and he finished work and picked up the boys.  He took them to the Maryville High football game.  They had a blast.  Carter has been saying he wants to play football ever since.  He practices tackling my throw pillows (ah!), and talks about the quarter back.

The next morning we got up bright and early to head to Dollywood to see their Fall Displays and ride rides.

Our Halloween dinner-Mummie Dogs, Jack-o-lantern orange, and carrots.
We were going for quick (so we could get to trick or treating) and orange or halloween themed!

Carter just loves to count, collect, organize, and sort right now.  Back in April we were in Downtown Knoxville and Carter found a ton of bottle caps and begged to pick them up and bring them home.  We let him (and cleaned them off), well since then he manages to find them everywhere (sidewalks, parking lots, etc!). (I always clean them)  He gets them out all the time to sort and count.

I got to go help Dawson's class make these cute Halloween crafts on Halloween.

Back before the local elections these apple signs for a local candidate were EVERYWHERE.  We started playing a game called "Apple Sign Bingo" where everywhere we would drive the kids would search for these and call out bingo! They loved this silly little game (and will be disappointed when the signs are gone).  On Halloween NK spotted one in someone's yard and had her picture made beside it--haha! I'm sure this is kind of silly to document, but I love keeping track of these silly little memories though because one day I know she will think playing these games is silly.

Last year I walked the neighborhood with the kids on Halloween to trick or treat, so this year I stayed home (with Clayton) and handed out candy.  We sat like this at the bottom of our driveway for a while though so that trick or treaters didn't have to make the trek up the hill.

Trick or treating is hard work for this ostrich, shark, and fancy nancy (who had taken off part of her costume at this point).
